Hobbies Dissected: Origami

Talk about covering the bases, up to and including this post I will have written posts about my top social networking sites, top bloggish websites, and now my top sites which are in my area of interest. Whatever that means. At some point I’m going to run out of sites to write about that I frequent on any measurable basis. I have a pretty limited amount of sites that I frequent to begin with and spend most of my time at my choice sites, most of which have already been covered, mostly in my social networking post. But I suppose for this post I should find things that I am interested in that don’t directly involve the internet, but can be found on the internet nevertheless. Some might call these things… Hobbies.

While I’ve never found origami on the web to be particularly useful, to someone without prior know how, I’m sure it is a fantastic learning tool. I’ve been folding since I was about ten, about twelve years. How’s that for keeping up with a hobby, I’ve been doing it for more than half my life! I have books aplenty thanks to the generosity and encouragement of my aunt, who shares a passion for origami with me. (she is the one who turned me on to folding in the first place) So with this many books, and due to the type of models I tend to fold, I haven’t really checked online for too many diagrams, though I know they are out there. I’ll post a few links here of people and models I have found of particular interest over the years. Read the rest of this entry »
